We've written this in plain English. Your privacy is the whole point of QuackPDFTools.

The short version: Your files are processed 100% inside your browser. We never see them, never store them, and never transmit them. The only data we collect is standard analytics and advertising data, which is described fully below.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how QuackPDFTools ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our website at quackpdftools.com (the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about what data is collected.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

  • Usage data: Page views, referrer URLs, browser type, operating system, and country (via anonymous analytics). This data is aggregated and never linked to an individual.
  • Contact form submissions: If you contact us via the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message content for the sole purpose of responding to you.
  • Advertising data: Our advertising partners (including Google AdSense) may collect data as described in the Advertising section below.

We do not collect: account information (there are no accounts), passwords, payment information, or any file content.

Your Files — The Most Important Section

All PDF processing on QuackPDFTools happens entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. When you upload a file, it is loaded into your browser's memory and processed on your own device. No file content is ever transmitted to our servers. We never see, store, or have any access to the documents you process.

This is technically enforced — our servers only deliver static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. There is no upload endpoint. The JavaScript libraries (pdf-lib.js, pdf.js, JSZip) do all processing locally.

Cookies & Local Storage

We use the following client-side storage:

  • localStorage ("qpt-theme"): Stores your dark/light mode preference. This never leaves your device.
  • Analytics cookies: If analytics are enabled, a small anonymous identifier may be set to count unique visits. No personal information is included.
  • Advertising cookies: Google AdSense sets cookies to serve relevant ads. See the Advertising section for details.

Advertising

QuackPDFTools is free to use and is supported by advertising revenue. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google's advertising technology may:

  • Use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site and other websites
  • Collect information about your interactions with ads
  • Use the DoubleClick cookie to serve interest-based ads

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info. You can also opt out through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Third-Party Services

Our website loads the following third-party resources. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Google Fonts — typography fonts (Google's Privacy Policy applies)
  • unpkg.com CDN — delivers pdf-lib.js and JSZip JavaScript libraries
  • cdnjs.cloudflare.com — delivers pdf.js
  • Google AdSense — advertising (Google's Privacy Policy applies)

We do not sell your data to any third parties.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we hold minimal personal data (only contact form submissions), please email us at privacy@quackpdftools.com with any requests. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under GDPR including the right to erasure and data portability. If you are a California resident, you have rights under CCPA.

Terms of Service

By using QuackPDFTools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use QuackPDFTools only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use the service to process files that contain illegal content
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service
  • Use the Service to infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Use automated tools to make excessive requests to our servers

The Service is provided for personal and commercial use. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to process any files you use with our tools.

Disclaimer of Warranties

QuackPDFTools is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Output files will be identical in every way to the input (especially for compressed PDFs)
  • The Service will be available in all jurisdictions

We are not liable for any loss of data or corruption of files resulting from use of the Service. Always keep backups of important documents before processing them.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, QuackPDFTools shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of the Service.

Intellectual Property

The QuackPDFTools name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property. The underlying JavaScript libraries (pdf-lib, pdf.js, JSZip) are open source and used under their respective licenses (MIT / Apache 2.0).

Changes to These Policies

We may update this Privacy Policy and Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
